To help you choose the correct silicone, we recommend you call our office (01638 750 679) and speak to one of the technical team. You can also find a short synopsis below of the major differences between RTV addition cured (platinum cured) silicones and RTV condensation (tin based) silicones.
RTV Condensation Silicones (tin based) are 2- part mould making silicones for general purpose, everyday moulding where no skin contact or dimensional stability is required. Although they are fantastic silicones to use, they generally last after cured a few years and tend to weaken with small shrinkage. They are available from very low Shore A hardness to 40 A Shore hardness.
RTV Platinum Cure (addition cure) are 2-part mould making silicones where either skin contact or dimensional stability, food requirements or heat resistance is required. With Platinum cured silicones you can cast moulds with polyester, epoxy resins and all other polyurethanes from them. Please take advise on correct release agents prior to pouring.
