RTV Silicones
Mouldlife | PS offer a full line of RTV silicones for all your moulding needs. The range includes everything from Platinum Cured (also known as addition cured) to Condensation Cured (tin based) and Shore Hardness' from as low as a 0030 to much harder silicones of over 60A. As the UK's official distributors of Polytek, we hold the largest range of market leading prosthetic silicones like Platsil Gel 00 and Platsil 10 in the UK.
We supply silicone for a wide range of mould making projects from Food Grade silicone to silicone moulding rubber to suit every level of expertise. We are also very proud to offer the Elkem and Dow Corning range of silicone.
To help you choose the correct RTV silicone and get the most out of your purchase, we recommend you call our office (01638 750 679) and speak to one of the technical team. You can also find a short synopsis below of the major differences between RTV addition cured (platinum cured) silicones and RTV condensation (tin based) silicones, or you can read our article on the best mould making silicone.
RTV Condensation silicones (tin based) are 2-part silicones for general purpose, everyday moulding where no skin contact or dimensional stability is required. Although they are fantastic silicones to use, they generally last after cured a few years and tend to weaken with small shrinkage. They are available from very low Shore A hardness to 40 A Shore hardness.
RTV Platinum Cure (addition cure) are 2-part silicones where either skin contact or dimensional stability, food requirements or heat resistance is required. With Platinum cured silicones you can cast moulds with polyester, epoxy resins and all other polyurethanes from them. Please take advice on correct release agents prior to pouring.
Silicone fluid (silicone oil) is a non-reactive product. It is primarily used as a Thinner or Diluent to reduce the viscosity of two-part RTV Silicone Rubbers.
